Mac Lipglass Air: A New Take on an Old Classic

There is a new lip gloss in town, and they say she’s as light as air. If you know anything about lipglass from Mac Cosmetics, then you know that the original is thicker than a snicker. It’s plush, glossy, and lasts forever. So, I needed to see what the lipglass air was all about. And I must say, it couldn’t be any more different than the original.

Let’s Take A Looksie

Swatches

  • Viva Glam Kimmitment is the newest addition to the Viva Glam collection, and it’s by Kim Petras. It can be described as a pink-based red with glitter.
  • Aesthetic is a sheer peachy brown nude.
  • Sublime is a deep plum with multicolored sparkles…think Oversexed plushglass. It actually might be an exact dupe on the lips.
  • Snobbish is a sheer blue-based baby pink. For the girls who miss snob lipglass, this one is for you.
  • Quality is a deep brown that looks to have more yellow undertones.
  • Frosting is a clear with warm pink and gold multicolored shimmer.
  • Frozen is another sheer gloss, similar to frosting but cooler with blue and purple sparkles.
  • Behaved is a pale pink nude. Probably my fav of the bunch to layer.
  • Instinct is a midtone yellow brown, it reminds me of Lime Crime Shroom in lip gloss form.
  • Next, we have Accolade. It’s a sheer metallic gold. So pretty on top of nude lipsticks.
  • And last is Spritz. It’s honestly my least favorite of them all, and it is a reddish-pink coral. Hold up, though— when it’s mixed with Prrr lipglass, it creates Pink Lemonade lipglass exactly. And Pink Lemonade is long discontinued.

Pros

  • Truly light as air, I can barely feel them on
  • A good mixture of different colors and finishes
  • Can replace Mac Cremesheen Glass
  • Colors like Behaved, Snobbish, Frozen, and Sublime are close dupes to discontinued Mac Colors (Behaved= Boy Bait or Fashion Scoop or Florabundance; Snobbish= Snob; Sublime= Oversexed Plushglass, Frozen= Pleasure Principle Dazzleglass)
  • Doesn’t leave a white line in the inner rim of the lips

Cons

  • Not long-lasting. The most I’ve gotten in wear has been from Sublime, and that was about 2 hours.
  • Expensive AF at $25. Regular MAC lipglass is $24, which is still steep, but it lasts longer. Still, it has a little more product in it, so maybe it balances out?

I hope these swatches on my brown complexion prove helpful. Overall, I do like them. There is some controversy online regarding whether they’re good or not. I think it simply comes down to personal preference. If you like a lip oil or a thinner, comfortable gloss, you will like these. If you prefer something thick and long-lasting, you may not find these suitable. Me, myself, I like em all. Thick, thin, colorful, nude. Give me all the lip products!

What are your thoughts on the new lipglass? Are you a classic mac lipglass girl or are you loving the new babe in town? Tell me your thoughts.
